He provides clear and practical advice so as to resolve disputes as expeditiously, sensitively and cost effectively as possible for the benefit of his clients who include private individuals, charities, and those in the financial services industry.
Ashton’s case load covers a wide variety of issues including but not limited to: challenges to the validity of wills; 1975 Inheritance Act Claims; financial abuse of the elderly and / or the vulnerable by attorneys and / or deputies; misappropriation of estate / trust assets; claims for construction / rectification and applications for removal of trustees / executors. The estates and trusts involved range in value from several hundred thousand to multi millions of pounds.
Ashton is a member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS) and the STEP Special Interest Group for Contentious Trust & Probate. He has had various articles published in the legal press
