Tax Manager – Private Client Team

Main Purpose of the Position

To have overall responsibility for the smooth running of the department.  To ensure that the preparation of Personal Tax and Trust Returns are completed and submitted in a timely manner and also to service a portfolio of client compliance matters from HINWIS to Property Accounts and both large and small Returns.  To advise other team members and members of other departments in connection with tax matters arising on their client matters.  To be comfortable working and advising in both personal tax, capital gains and trust matters.  Supporting other members on the team in both knowledge and training. To be involved with tax planning matters as they arise.

Person Specification

  • ATT/CTA qualified
  • A good understanding of all aspects of Personal Tax and Trust compliance
  • Experience of using Microsoft Excel and CCH Personal Tax/Trust software would be an advantage
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of current tax legislation and HMRC practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Organised and methodical with the ability to work to deadlines and prioritise work
  • Team player
  • Deal appropriately with confidential information
  • Responsibility for keeping client records up-to-date at the Government Gateway and to monitor for new client matters being added
  • Liaise with software providers in respect of operational difficulties and upgrades
