On Thursday 7 April 2016, Adams & Remers Solicitors in Lewes are hosting a free one day event aimed at owners, and prospective owners, of listed properties. With a line-up of expert speakers and exhibitors, the event promises to deliver everything you wanted to know about owning and maintaining a listed property, but were afraid to ask.
Adams & Remers know a thing or two about historic listed properties. Partner Suzanne Bowman, who is hosting the event, specialises in listed and residential property. Suzanne provides legal advice for members of the Listed Property Owners Club and is a well-known speaker on all matters relating to listed properties. Our building, Trinity House, on School Hill in Lewes is itself a listed property with a colourful past and plenty of history of its own.
“This event aims to highlight all that you need to know about listed properties. Owning a listed property is a joy and a privilege but can be onerous at times so it is important to be armed with as much knowledge as possible to help you avoid some of the pitfalls and make the most of your investment. We have pulled together a host of fantastic speakers who will leave you feeling inspired and proud to be an owner of a listed property”, said Suzanne Bowman.
The speakers include: Peter Bell, Local Authority Conservation Officer and Advisor to the Listed Property Owners Club; Robert Desbruslais, a surveyor expert in older buildings; Diane Aldridge, Town Planner, who can advise on planning matters; Violet Hancock from Sussex Heritage Trust, and author David Arscott who will take you on a journey through Sussex, painting a picture of the rich heritage and beauty of our wonderful listed properties.
There will also be an exhibition by architects, planners and historians, and a range of books and information available. If you are in the market for a listed property, you can browse the Property Wall where you might just find your next home…or project!
The event, being held at Kings Church in Lewes, is free to attend for owners and prospective owners of listed buildings and includes coffee, tea and a buffet lunch. The event will start at 9.45am and finish at 4pm. Booking is by prior registration only, first come, first served. Details about the event are also available at this link.
