Paralegal – Private Client

Based in: Lewes

Salary: £23,000 to £25,000

The Role

The role involves duties including:

  • File opening and closing and ongoing file maintenance
  • Liaising with clients and attending client meetings
  • Liaising with third parties such as accountants, agents, banks, Companies House, etc.
  • Completing detailed forms accurately
  • Carrying out due diligence enquiries, collating and indexing the documentation
  • Creating and maintaining on-line data-rooms
  • Preparing and reviewing ancillary documentation and preparing sets of documents for each completed transaction
  • Drafting basic documents and amending documents from manuscript
  • Legal research
  • Preparing bills and dealing with arising queries
  • Assisting with anti-money laundering checks

Person Specification

We are looking for a Paralegal to join this team to carry out:

  • Drafting simple legal documents and taking instructions from clients
  • File opening and closing;
  • Drafting routine correspondence including client engagement letters
  • Liaising with clients and other third parties
  • Management of payments, receipts and transfers, dealing with arising queries and issues
  • Create and maintain database Will, EPA and LPA records
  • Handling of original Wills/Powers of Attorney
  • Land Registry and Companies House searches
  • Administrative tasks such as , AML procedures and checks ,opening files .file management and preparing bills
  • Legal Research
  • Generally assisting partners and other fee earners on client matters

This is a very hands on and varied role with lots of opportunities for the right candidate to get valuable first-hand experience in some complex and interesting matters whilst working alongside senior fee earners.

  • Educated to degree level
  • Some experience of Private Client work would be an advantage
